Commending and thanking Alderperson Sheri Carter for her dedicated and conscientious service during her tenure as President of the Madison Common Council.

Body

WHEREAS, Alderperson Sheri Carter was elected by her peers to the office of President of the Madison Common Council on April 21, 2020, for the term 2020-2021; and

WHEREAS, Alderperson Carter met bi-weekly with Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and Common Council Vice President Syed Abbas to discuss city issues; and

WHEREAS, during her term as Common Council President, Alderperson Carter also served as chair of the Common Council Executive Committee and served on the Alcohol License Review Committee, Community Development Authority, Jeffrey Clay Erlanger Civility in Public Discourse Award Committee, Finance Committee, Madison Arts Commission, and Room Tax Commission; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure as Common Council President, Alderperson Carter worked with Mayor Rhodes-Conway and Common Council Vice-President Abbas on COVID-19 plans, and issues around violence prevention, health equity, small business and economic recovery, eviction prevention, and effectively advocated for the Common Council; and

WHEREAS, Alderperson Carter has met the demands of her additional duties with committed and dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Alderperson Carter fulfilled her duties as Common Council President while ably representing and responding to her 14^th District constituents’ concerns and issues;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Sheri Carter for her dedicated and conscientious service during her tenure as President of the Madison Common Council.
