Body

The new portion of the Cedar street will include sanitary sewer, storm sewer, stormwater biofiltration, asphalt pavement, gravel base, curb, sidewalk on the south side of the street and a portion of the north side both sides of the street, marked buffered bike lanes, and parking on the south side of Cedar Street in the area that is within approximately 450 feet of S. Park Street. one side of the street or buffered bike lanes on both sides of the street. Cedar Street width varies between 40 and 46 will be 40 feet from face of curb to face of curb.

 

The intersection of Cedar Street/South Park Street will be reconfigured with the addition of a traffic island to prevent Cedar Street cross traffic.

 

The intersection of Cedar Street/South Park Street/Beld Street will be reconfigured by removing Beld Street from direct connection with South Park Street and connecting it at a 90-degree angle into Cedar Street. This requires the purchase and removal of the house at 1401 Beld Street.

 

The reconstruction of South Street north of Cedar Street includes the replacement of sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, asphalt pavement, gravel base, curb, new sidewalk, and parking on one side of the street. South Street will be 32 feet from face of curb to face of curb north of Cedar Street

 

The reconstruction of South Street south of Cedar Street includes the replacement of sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, asphalt pavement, gravel base, curb, spot replacements of sidewalk, and parking on both sides of the street. 34 feet from face of curb to face of curb south of Cedar Street.

 

The reconstruction of High Street includes replacement of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, asphalt pavement, gravel base, the addition of curb, sidewalk added to the east side of the street, and parking on the one side of the street. High Street will be 28 feet from face of curb to face of curb.

 

The resurfacing of West Wingra Drive includes replacement of sanitary sewer, water main, asphalt pavement, gravel base, and spot replacement of curb and sidewalk. West Wingra Drive will maintain 44 feet from face of curb to face of curb.

 

One public informational meeting was held to present designs and obtain public input. The intersection of South Street, High Street and Midland Street will be reconfigured to provide safer accommodations for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles. The intersection of Cedar Street and South Park Street will be reconfigured with the addition of a traffic island to prevent Cedar Street cross traffic and improve pedestrian and bicycle crossing movements. The intersection of Cedar Street and Fish Hatchery Road will include a traffic island on the south side of the intersection to provide a crossing refuge for pedestrians and bicycles. 

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the roadway geometry for the construction of Cedar Street (Fish Hatchery to South Park Street), the reconstruction of South Street (West Wingra Drive to Midland Street) and High Street (cul-de-sac to Midland Street), and the resurfacing of West Wingra Drive (Fish Hatchery Road to South Street) is hereby approved and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the geometry approval for the intersection of S Park Street is and Cedar St and the pavement marking on Cedar St are excluded from this approval, and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City Engineering and City Traffic Engineering are hereby authorized to proceed with final design for the project.
