Offering condolences on the passing of Bella Sobah, chair of the Disability Rights Commission.

Body

WHEREAS, Bella Sobah, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 18, 2020, and,

WHEREAS, Bella chaired the Disability Rights Commission for the City of Madison, where, through her dedication and commitment, she helped to bring positive change for individuals with disabilities in Madison; and,

WHEREAS, Bella strived to look at the intersectionality of her identity in a way that positively promoted the outcomes of equity for the City of Madison; and,

WHEREAS, Bella served the City for 3 years as a member of the Disability Rights Commission; and,

WHEREAS, Bella’s commitment to social justice inspired her life, including her pursuit of a law degree, and continues to inspire all those who knew her,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the members of the Common Council, Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and Department of Civil Rights of the City of Madison wish to offer our condolences to Bella’s family and honor the life of Bella Sobah by commemorating her passing.
