Commending and thanking Alderperson Mike Tierney for his dedicated service to the constituents in District 16 and to the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, on July 24, 2018, the Madison Common Council appointed Mike Tierney to fill the remainder of Alderperson Denise DeMarb’s term; and
WHEREAS, Alderperson Mike Tierney was elected to a full term on April 2, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Alderperson Tierney served on the Ad Hoc Landmarks Ordinance Review Committee; Ad Hoc Task Force on the Structure of City Government (TFOGS) Final Report Implementation Work Group; Board of Public Works; City-County Homeless Issues Committee; Common Council Executive Committee; Early Childhood Care and Education Committee; Economic Development Committee; Ho-Chunk Nation/City of Madison Joint Planning Committee; Madison Area Transportation Planning Board (MPO); Sustainable Madison Committee; Transportation Commission; and Water Utility Board; and
WHEREAS, Alderperson Tierney advocated for the ambulance at Fire Station 14 and for Engine 14 to carry a paramedic and medical equipment; and
WHEREAS, Alderperson Tierney worked with the Madison Fire Department to ensure paramedics serving Station 14 were made aware of the unique medical needs of district residents and were provided with training to meet those needs; and
WHEREAS, Alderperson Tierney worked with City staff to facilitate development in District 16 and elsewhere in Madison, and to create construction and family supporting jobs for Madison residents; and
WHEREAS, Alderperson Tierney, having witnessed the aftermath of serious traffic accidents, including an accident with a fatality, supported alterations to Highway 12/18 at the intersections with Mill Pond Road and Highway AB; and
WHEREAS, Alderperson Tierney worked with the Ho-Chunk Nation, whose ancestral land he lives on today, and supported the expansion of their facility in District 16 that will help people from Wisconsin and aroun...
