Recognizing the contributions of Diane Althaus as she retires after 19 years as Ordinance Revision Specialist and assistant, in the Office of the City Attorney.
Body
WHEREAS, for the last 19 years, Diane Althaus has served as the City’s Ordinance Specialist and assistant, responsible for maintaining four (4) volumes, forty-five (45) chapters, and hundreds if not thousands of amendments to the Madison General Ordinances; and

WHEREAS, Diane’s service to alders and city staff alike, and commitment and attention to detail have provided an immeasurable contribution to the City of Madison; and

WHEREAS, through her role as the Ordinance Revision Specialist, Diane’s contributions include, but are not limited to:

(a) Responding to requests from attorneys, alders, committee chairs and staff - frequently on very short deadlines;
(b) Keeping everyone on task with said short deadlines, always producing an excellent work product despite the demands of such deadlines;
(c) Discovering and correcting typographical errors within existing ordinances and ensuring formatting and syntax consistency;
(d) Educating countless city staff about the ordinance amendment and legislative procedures of the City; and
(e) More recently, presiding over the implementation of an online ordinance service, which included the grueling task of proof-reading the entire code of ordinances for conversion to the online format; remaining ever-vigilant to ensure the online version and quarterly updates to the MGOs is published in a timely and accurate manner.

WHEREAS, Diane has blessed the OCA with some of the best home-baked food, whether a trendy and tasteful new appetizer, dessert baked on demand, or one of her expert dishes prepared for an office potluck party, Diane’s cooking will be sorely missed; and

WHEREAS, Diane has maintained extremely high standards and expects the same of others - all in the name of ensuring the Madison General Ordinanc...
