Commending and thanking Alderperson Lindsay Lemmer for her dedicated service to the constituents in District 3 and to the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Lindsay Lemmer was elected to the Madison Common Council on April 2, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Alderperson Lemmer served on the Plan Commission, the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County, Common Council Executive Committee, Economic Development Committee, Public Market Development Committee, Ad Hoc Redistricting Committee, City-County Homeless Issues Committee, Equal Opportunities Commission, Housing Strategy Committee, President's Work Group on Environmental Justice and President's Work Group to Review Council Communication Tools & Processes; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Alder Lemmer was proud to stand up for science, data and for saving lives by supporting critical emergency orders and the exceptional leadership of the Director of Public Health,
WHEREAS, Alder Lemmer worked to establish safety improvements throughout her district which include additions coming this year to make the Milwaukee Street bridge over the interstate safer for pedestrians and bicycles, much needed pedestrian safety and traffic calming on and around Milwaukee Street, Sprecher Road and Cottage Grove Road among other areas,
WHEREAS, Alder Lemmer was pleased to stand with UW Health nurses as they advocate for their right to organize while they deal with staffing shortages, supply shortages, and risk theirs and their family’s health to care for all of us;
WHEREAS, Alder Lemmer was pleased to work with Captain Matt Tye to establish a plan to move mental health crisis transports to a third party from the police department so that people experiencing the worst day of their lives aren’t further traumatized, and is grateful to former Madison Mental Health Officer Ryan Jennissen for alerting her to this need, an...
