Commending, honoring, and expressing appreciation to Gregg McManners, Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center Executive Director, on his retirement from the City of Madison after 17 years of exemplary service.
Body
WHEREAS, Gregg McManners has led the renowned Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center for the past nine years as Executive Director, and for eight years as Operations Director, with service characterized by a culture of innovation and excellence; and,

WHEREAS, Gregg has focused his efforts on making Monona Terrace and Madison a major tourist destination, community gathering place, and an economic catalyst operating without general fund dollars and generating over $32 million in economic impact annually; and,

WHEREAS, under Gregg’s leadership, the facility has made great strides in sustainability and achieved its certification as a green building at the Gold level by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Program; and,

WHEREAS, Gregg has led with purpose and was a champion of Monona Terrace’s mission, “to deliver an exceptional and inspirational experience,” which consistently resulted in average customer survey satisfaction ratings of 98% or above; and,

WHEREAS, Gregg’s efforts have resulted in numerous recognitions and awards for Monona Terrace, including being recognized as Best Venue for Business Meetings/ Events by In Business Magazine for five years in a row, and a Prime Site Award by Facilities and Destinations magazine for 15 straight years; and,

WHEREAS, Gregg has been honored for his contributions to the industry by the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM); and,

WHEREAS, Gregg has helped ensure this community asset was accessible to the public and welcoming for all regardless of age, race or income, and prioritized the over 100 free and low cost community events Monona Terrace puts on each year;
