Honoring the memory of Madison Firefighter Todd James Mahoney.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Fire Department and the Madison community lost a valued member on June 11, 2019 when Apparatus Engineer Todd James Mahoney lost his life from complications while competing in Ironman 70.3 Triathlon in Madison, Wisconsin; and,

WHEREAS, Apparatus Engineer Todd James Mahoney was hired as a firefighter on the 19th of April, 2010 and appointed to Paramedic on the 9th of June, 2011 and assigned to Medic 8 at City of Madison Fire Station No. 8; and,

WHEREAS, on January 15, 2017 Todd James Mahoney was promoted to Apparatus Engineer and assigned to the City of Madison Fire Station No. 9 on the west side, then later transferred to Fire Station No. 1, downtown;

WHEREAS, Apparatus Engineer Todd James Mahoney was a member of the HURT (Heavy Urban Rescue Team) and Dive Rescue Team; and,

WHEREAS, Apparatus Engineer Todd James Mahoney was passionate about fitness with an immense love for the outdoors; and,

WHEREAS, he was, above all else, a family man who cherished his amazing wife Savannah and three young boys, Jackson, Conor, and Dempsey; and,

WHEREAS, with Todd’s infectious laugh and sense of humor, he was a beloved member of every crew and will always be a valued brother of the Madison Fire Department family; and,

WHEREAS, Apparatus Engineer Todd James Mahoney served the City of Madison residents with diligence, bravery, integrity, and compassion;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Madison, Wisconsin, honors the memory of Todd James Mahoney, mourns his death, and gratefully acknowledges his remarkable achievements, contributions, and service to the citizens of Madison; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Fire Engine No. 8, which is housed at Fire Station No. 8, 3945 Lien Road, City of Madison, shall bear the name of Apparatus Engineer Todd James Mahoney, in his memory and in honor of his dedicated service to ...
