Commending and thanking Alderperson Steve King for his dedicated service to the constituents in District 7 and to the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Steve King was elected to the Madison Common Council on April 7, 2009; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson King served on the City-County Liaison Committee, Long Range Transportation Planning Committee, Public Safety Review Committee, Common Council Organizational Committee, Transportation Ordinance Review Ad Hoc Committee, Long Range Transportation Planning Committee, Reapportionment & Redistricting Ad Hoc Committee, Solid Waste Advisory Committee, Zoning Code Rewrite Advisory Committee and Plan Commission; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson King convinced the Council to support funding to help save the Catholic Multicultural Center which was proposed to be closed by the late Bishop Morlino; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson King supported the completion of Maple Grove Commons, an 80 unit affordable housing apartment project in the center of District 7 ... with no controversy from the neighborhood; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson King provided valuable contributions to the Performance Excellence effort within the City, particularly on the creation and deployment of the Employee Voice Survey within the Voice of the Customer initiative; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson King worked tirelessly to have the Mid Town Road resurfaced between Marty Road and Gammon Road - across a corn field no less; and,

WHEREAS, the Common Council will now need to designate a new alder to do the "adjourning duties" - although no one ever did it with such enthusiasm and zeal; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson Steve King through his hard work and dedication to his aldermanic duties has faithfully and with honor served his constituents and the City of Madison,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Steve King for his dedicated service to his constituents in District 7 ...
