Congratulating Guy Van Rensselaer on his retirement and thanking him for over 38 years of service to the City of Madison.

Body

WHEREAS, Guy Van Rensselaer joined the City of Madison on May 14, 1979 in the Motor Equipment Division; and,

 

WHEREAS, Guy further progressed through his city career with Metro Transit, Human Resources and the Information Technology Department; and,

 

WHEREAS, Guy gained expertise in areas critical to the City and its operations; and,

 

WHEREAS, these key skills include management analysis, organizational development and leadership, quality improvement, facilitation, business process redesign, business analysis, project management, communications and training; and,

 

WHEREAS, Guy has participated in, lead or facilitated numerous projects throughout the city spanning over 38 years; and,

 

WHEREAS, these past projects have included:  Fire Department Staffing Committee, Forestry Pruning Cycle Project, Streets Brush Collection System, Planning Team for the Opening of Monona Terrace, Strategic Planning Efforts in several departments, City-wide Quality Improvement efforts, Public Works Supervisory Training Program, City Supervisory Academy, City-Wide Newsletter, and business process review for many IT projects serving all city departments; and,

 

WHEREAS, Guy has served as a consultant and advisor to many managers and department heads, as well as a mentor to many city staff; and,

 

WHEREAS, his expertise and experience has made him the “Go To” person for many special city-wide projects,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Madison thank Guy Van Rensselaer for his dedicated service to the city and its residents and wish him well in his retirement.
