Commending, honoring, and expressing appreciation to Chris Kelley upon his retirement from the City of Madison after over 38 years of outstanding service.

Body

WHEREAS, Chris Kelley began his employment with the City of Madison on April 30, 1979; and

WHEREAS, due to his retirement, his last day with the City will be December 1, 2017; and

WHEREAS, he ends his long and illustrious career as the Streets Division’s Superintendent; and

WHEREAS, while he ends his career at the top the Streets Division agency, he began his career picking trash bags by hand and throwing them into garbage trucks; and

WHEREAS, his decades of tireless service for the residents of Madison has earned him the respect of residents and fellow city workers alike; and

WHEREAS, both his leadership skills and knowledge of the City are unrivaled; and

WHEREAS, upon his retirement an unfillable void will be created within the Streets Division as he takes his well-earned expertise and wisdom with him; and

WHEREAS, after over 38 years on the job, he can finally take a vacation in the winter; and

WHEREAS, he has proven through his sense of duty, his dedication to service, and his consistent, thoughtful leadership to be an exemplary Madisonian and the absolute ideal of a public employee,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the Common Council of the City of Madison thank CHRIS KELLEY for his decades of service to our community and leadership within our City and wish him well and success in his deserved retirement.
