Recognizing William T. Vanden Brook upon his retirement as Fleet Service Superintendent and for his decades of dedicated service with the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, William T. Vanden Brook, commonly known as “Bill”, began his distinguished career with the City of Madison as the Parts Manager for what was then known as Motor Equipment (although many think that Bill has been around forever, he actually began his employment with the City on October 22, 1979 AD); and,

WHEREAS, Bill earned the distinction of Certified Equipment Manager by the Association of Equipment Management Professionals, where he was an Instructor and a Board Member; and,

WHEREAS, Bill was also a member of TMC, the Technology Maintenance Council, an advisory group to the transportation industry for equipment, specifications and maintenance practices; and,

WHEREAS, Bill utilized his knowledge to lead the Motor Equipment division to implement computerized systems for asset management, preventive maintenance, billing, automated fuel recording and the renaming of Motor Equipment to Fleet Service, recognizing the scope of the task at hand; and,

WHEREAS, Bill has also served as Public Works and Transportation Team Leader since 2011; and,

WHEREAS, Bill completed training with FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute in the National Incident Management System. As a member of the City’s Emergency Operation’s team, Bill served countless hours over the years, when the City faced a calamity; and,

WHEREAS, Bill has been a dedicated public servant for 37+ years, faithfully carrying out his duties in the best of times and the worst of times and has demonstrated a passion to do the right thing, treating people with dignity and respect. His institutional knowledge, wisdom, and sense of humor will be missed by those who have worked with him; and,

WHEREAS, Bill has been a terrific contributor to the City and has earned the right to retire, focusing his passio...
