Title
Commending and thanking Alderperson Maurice Cheeks for his dedicated and conscientious service during his tenure as President Pro Tem of the Madison Common Council.
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Maurice Cheeks was elected by his peers to the office of President Pro Tem of the Madison Common Council on April 21, 2015 for the term of 2015-2016; and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Cheeks met weekly with Mayor Paul Soglin, his staff and Common Council President Denise DeMarb to discuss issues effecting the city; and,
WHEREAS, during his term as Common Council President Pro Tem, Alderperson Cheeks served as vice-chair of the Common Council Organizational Committee and also served on the Allied Area Task Force, Board of Estimates, Committee on Sweatfree Purchases, Community Development Block Grant Committee, Public Safety Review Committee, CCOC Subcommittee to Develop Council Strategic Plan & Priorities, and the Sustainable Madison Transportation Committee (Madison in Motion); and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Cheeks has met the demands of his additional duties with diligent and dedicated service; and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Cheeks, in addition to the above duties, continued to ably represent his 10th District constituents,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and members of the Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Maurice Cheeks for his dedicated and conscientious service during his tenure as President Pro Tem of the Madison Common Council.
