Commending and thanking Alderperson Denise DeMarb for her dedicated and conscientious service during her tenure as President of the Madison Common Council.
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Denise DeMarb was elected by her peers to the office of President of the Madison Common Council on April 21, 2015 for the term 2015-2016; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson DeMarb met weekly with Mayor Paul Soglin, his staff and Council President Pro Tem Maurice Cheeks to discuss issues effecting the city; and,

WHEREAS, during her term as Common Council President, Alderperson DeMarb served as chair of the Common Council Organizational Committee and also served on the Board of Estimates, Committee on Employee Relations, Early Childhood Care & Education Committee, Economic Development Committee, Jeffrey Clay Erlanger Civility in Public Discourse Award Committee, Ho-Chunk Nation/City of Madison Joint Planning Committee, CCOC Subcommittee to Develop Council Strategic Plan & Priorities and the Transportation Ordinance Review Ad Hoc Committee; and,

WHEREAS, during Alderperson DeMarb’s tenure as Common Council President she held a variety of discussions, briefings and informational presentations for Council members on racial equity, the development of a Council strategic plan and priorities, Judge Doyle Square development, Madison Municipal Building remodel, Madison Public Market Business Plan and the impact of tourism in the city of Madison; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson DeMarb, in addition to fulfilling her duties as Common Council President, she ably and diligently represented her District 16 constituents;

WHEREAS, Alderperson DeMarb's tenure was marked with her tireless dedication to keep the Council an informed legislative body,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Denise DeMarb for her dedicated and conscientious service during her tenure as President of the Madison Common Council.
