Congratulating Ann Gullickson on her retirement and thanking her for almost 19 years of exemplary service to the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, Ann Gullickson has been employed by the City of Madison for almost 19 years; and

WHEREAS, her last day with the city will be January 4, 2016; and

WHEREAS, her extensive background includes, in addition to her service to the city of Madison, includes a degree in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and 13 years as Transit Manager for the city of Eau Claire; and

WHEREAS, she has worked as the Transit Service Manager and Acting General Manager for Metro Transit during those years under three different Transit General Managers; and

WHEREAS, she has mentored many managers and other employees at the transit utility; and

WHEREAS, she has been a key person in running Madison's award-winning bus service for those 19 years; and

WHEREAS, she has shown great leadership in her role leading both the operations and maintenance units, while twice being the Acting Transit General Manager and as a founding member of Transit Mutual Insurance Company's membership board; and

WHEREAS, she has demonstrated great insight, compassion and integrity in her work with both Metro Transit employees and in providing customer service to its riders; and

WHEREAS, her many accomplishments and successes during her time with the city include labor relations and negotiations, the establishment of a satellite bus garage in Middleton, and work towards the creation of a possible future large-scale satellite garage on Madison's East side; and

WHEREAS, she will be greatly missed by her colleagues in city government, especially at Metro Transit, and by the many citizens whose lives she has touched during her career;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Mayor and the Common Council of the City of Madison thank Ann Gullickson for her dedicated service to the city and its citizens and wish her...
