Commending Kathleen Rideout, Administrative Clerk I, of the City Engineering Division, upon her retirement after more than 38 years of dedicated service to the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, on September 16, 1974, Kathleen M. O'Brien (aka Kathleen Rideout) began work for the City of Madison Engineering Division as a "Brunning Machine Operator"; and,
 
WHEREAS, prior to her being hired, Kathleen had spent portions of her Junior and Senior High School years working as a Co-op Student in the City's Clerical Pool, spending time in the offices of the Assessor, Treasurer, Traffic Engineer and Human Resources; and,
 
WHEREAS, well before the Brunning Machine became extinct, Kathleen was promoted to the position of Clerk Typist with subsequent promotion to Clerk Typist 2 and ultimately Administrative Clerk I, all within the Engineering Division; and,
 
WHEREAS, Kathleen has also been actively involved with Local 60, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, serving as Member, Union Steward or Officer for well over 30 years; and,
 
WHEREAS, for the past 38 plus years, with the exception of taking time out for the birth of her 3 children, Kathleen has dutifully served the Engineering Division and the City of Madison; and,
 
WHEREAS, Kathleen shall retire from the City of Madison Engineering Division on December 27, 2012.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council express their appreciation for the dedication and service of Kathleen Rideout for more than 38 years of service within the City of Madison Engineering Division; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council wish Kathleen a healthy and enjoyable retirement with her husband Chris and their Family.
