Congratulating María del Mar López for being selected as the 2012 Miss Viva México and ambassador of Mexican culture and heritage.
 
Body
WHEREAS, Hispanic Heritage month is celebrated in the United States from September 15 to October 15; and,
WHEREAS, as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, WLMV - La Movida 1480AM, a member radio station of Madison's Mid-West Family Broadcasting group, celebrated the 9th-annual Festival Viva México 2012 on Sunday, September 16, 2012; and,
WHEREAS, it has become a tradition to select an outstanding young woman to represent the Mexican culture and heritage by being crowned as Miss Viva México; and,
WHEREAS, María del Mar López was born in Hidalgo, TX, graduated from The University of Wisconsin Madison and is currently a teacher at  Pineview Elementary in the School District of Reedsburg; and,
WHEREAS, throughout 2012-2013  she will participate in events and activities such as Dane County Fair, Latino Health Fair, and fundraisers to serve as a role model to other Latino youth in our community; and,
WHEREAS, María del Mar López represents the perseverance, beauty and dreams of our Latina youth,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council congratulate María del Mar López for being selected as the 2012 Miss Viva México and ambassador of Mexican culture and heritage.
