Title
Honoring the Green Bay Packers, the 2010 National Football Conference Champions.
Body
WHEREAS, the Green Bay Packers National Football League team is the only non-profit, community-owned franchise in American professional sports major leagues; and

WHEREAS, Wisconsin's beloved Green Bay Packers finished the 2010 season with a 13-6 record, rightfully earning their fifth appearance in the Super Bowl, the first time in 13 years; and

WHEREAS, during an impressive playoff run, the Green Bay Packers (a No. 6 seed) masterfully held off, all on the road, No. 3 Philadelphia, No. 1 Atlanta, and most importantly, their arch-rivals, the No. 2 Chicago Bears, in the NFC Championship game (sweet!); and

WHEREAS, B.J. "The Freezer" Raji's late-in-the-game interception of Bears quarterback Caleb Hanie, returned for what ended up being the winning points of the game, and his celebratory end zone dance will live on forever in Packer bragging rights; and

WHEREAS, Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, has made it very easy for Packer fans everywhere to embrace Brent, err, Brett Favre's successor, with his consistently impressive stats; and

WHEREAS, the Packers have made living through a Wisconsin winter that much easier this year; and

WHEREAS, Madison and its strong environmental community still support the Packers despite the ruthless damage they've caused to wildlife, including Eagles, Falcons and Bears;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council hereby congratulate Coach Mike McCarthy, his assistant coaches, and the entire Green Bay Packers on their successful season, especially their 21-14 victory over the Chicago Bears to get them to Super Bowl XLV, and wish them well against the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Go, Pack, Go!
