Commending Natalie Erdman for her leadership to the City of Madison’s Planning, Economic and Community Development Department on the occasion of her retirement from public service.
Body
WHEREAS, Natalie Erdman was hired by the City of Madison as the Community Development Authority Executive Director in September, 2010 and was then hired as the Director of the Department of Planning and Community and Economic Development in February, 2015; and,
WHEREAS, Natalie brought to the City many years of experience in real estate finance and development, including affordable housing and historic preservation; and,
WHEREAS, during her tenure with the City, Natalie has served as a true civil servant, dedicating herself to improving the quality of life for Madison residents, supporting collaboration among staff, and excelling in the management of complex issues facing the City; and ,
WHEREAS, Natalie has demonstrated great leadership in all aspects of this most difficult position including advancing the City’s efforts in affordable housing and economic development as well as leading the Department’s management team; and,
WHEREAS, the breadth of Natalie’s positive impact on the community can be seen through major corporate expansion projects and downtown redevelopment, as well as the provision of housing and services for those most in need; and,
WHEREAS, Natalie is recognized and respected for her skillful and accurate communication, diplomacy, and pragmatism by colleagues across the City, elected officials, those serving on boards, committees and commissions, and the public; and,
WHEREAS, Natalie served as an exceptional mentor to City staff, many of whom will likely draw on what they have learned from Natalie in the years ahead as they work to implement projects and programs throughout the City; and,
WHEREAS, Natalie never flinched when met with complex and time-consuming issues or bizarre stories from her staff; and,
