Commending and thanking Alderperson Jill Johnson for her dedicated service to the constituents in District 16 and to the City of Madison.
 
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Jill Johnson was elected to the Madison Common Council on April 5, 2011; and,
 
WHEREAS, Alderperson Johnson served on the Economic Development Committee, Ho-Chunk Nation/City of Madison Joint Planning Committee, Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) Task Force, Pedestrian/Bicycle/Motor Vehicle Commission, Public Safety Review Committee, Sustainable Madison Committee, Bus Size Steering Committee and Sustainable Design & Energy Committee; and,
 
WHEREAS, during her tenure Alderperson Johnson championed the rights of the city taxpayer by providing them with a voice and treating Madison residents money with care; and,
 
WHEREAS, she advocated for the taxpayer by being highly skeptical of spending, demanding accountability, encouraging critical thinking, debate and questioning the effectiveness of what the city does ("It is much more important to kill bad bills than to pass good ones." ~ Calvin Coolidge); and,
 
WHEREAS, Alderperson Johnson was proud of her vote against the TIF proposal for the Edgewater project, assisting in the writing of the city's new TIF policy to promote future economic growth and representing individual homeowners during developer-driven requests for changes in the zoning code; and,
 
WHEREAS, Alderperson Jill Johnson through her hard work and dedication to her aldermanic duties has faithfully and with honor served her constituents and the City of Madison,
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Jill Johnson for her dedicated service to her constituents in District 16 and the City of Madison.
