Title
Amending the Yahara Hills Neighborhood Development Plan to remove the recommended northerly extension of Ohmeda Drive.
Body
WHEREAS the Yahara Hills Neighborhood Development Plan was adopted by the Madison Common Council on January 17, 2017 by RES-17-00093 (ID44402) as an element of the Comprehensive Plan to guide future growth in Madison’s southeast growth area; and
WHEREAS Map 7, Future Land Use and Street Plan, in the Yahara Hills Neighborhood Development Plan currently recommends that the existing segment of Ohmeda Drive be extended north as part of a planned connection to Meier Road; and
WHEREAS a developer proposes to develop the property at the northeast corner of Femrite Drive and Ohmeda Drive without the recommended northerly extension of Ohmeda Drive; and
WHEREAS the prospective development would utilize private driveways off of Femrite Drive and the existing segment of Ohmeda Drive; and
WHEREAS an amendment to the Yahara Hills Neighborhood Development Plan is required, otherwise this development would be responsible for building their share of the recommended northerly extension of Ohmeda Drive pursuant to the City’s Subdivision Regulations (Madison General Ordinances Section 16.23(8) and (9) specifically); and
WHEREAS an amendment to the Yahara Hills Neighborhood Development Plan has been prepared to remove the recommended northerly extension of Ohmeda Drive, as shown in Attachment A; and
WHEREAS Attachment A also illustrates removal of the existing segment of Ohmeda Drive and removal of a portion of a recommended east-west street between the planned terminus of Ohmeda Drive and Meier Road, which could be contemplated if the northerly extension Ohmeda Drive is removed from the Plan; and
WHEREAS City agencies have reviewed the proposed amendment to the Yahara Hills Neighborhood Development Plan and have provided comments and recommendations for consideration by the Plan Commission and Commo...
