Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes an agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the design and construction of US Highway 51 Northbound (Madison-DeForest) from USH 151 to Pierstorff Street. The total estimated project cost is $3,214,000, of which $40,000 is the City share. Funds are available in Adopted Capital Budget for Engineering - Major Streets, Reconstruction Streets (12478-402-170). No additional appropriation is required.

The State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation(WIDOT) has scheduled a pavement replacement project for the northbound lanes of USH 51 in 2023. The City of Madison constructed a multiuse path along Anderson Street west of USH 51 in 2020. The City has requested that WIDOT upgrade the intersection of USH 51 and Anderson Street to better accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists. The City also requested continuation of the multiuse path on the east side of the intersection. WIDOT has agreed to include the requested work in the 2023 project. Design and construction of the requested work is outside the scope of a partial pavement replacement project and will be 100% locally funded.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for design and construction of USH 51 NB (Madison-De Forest) from USH 151 to Pierstorff Street, WISDOT ID 5410-00-04/24/25/74.
