Body
WHEREAS, In October 2012, then Alder Satya Rhodes-Conway held a public meeting to solicit input on problems and possible solutions along the N. Sherman Ave. corridor; and

WHEREAS, subsequent to this public meeting, then Alder Satya Rhodes-Conway requested Traffic Engineering staff develop options for improving traffic conditions along N. Sherman Ave. for all users; and

WHEREAS, the selected option was to convert N. Sherman Avenue, a standard arterial street, from four lanes to three lanes with a center two-way left turn lane and bike lanes, often referred to as a TWLTL; and

WHEREAS, the design was intended to improve pedestrian safety in this corridor, and there had been multiple auto/pedestrian crashes, including fatalities; and

WHEREAS, the Council approved the report and directed the City Traffic Engineer to proceed with the conversion to the TWLTL cross-section; and

WHEREAS, as part of the initial approval, the Council directed the City Traffic Engineer to provide a report of the project progress and impacts eighteen (18) months after project implementation; and

WHEREAS, that report is now complete;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council accepts the report "N. Sherman Avenue Two-Way Left Turn Post-Conversion Traffic Analysis", and approves maintaining the TWLTL cross-section on N. Sherman Ave.
