Commending and thanking Alderperson Denise DeMarb for her dedicated service to her constituents in District 16 and the City of Madison.

Body

WHEREAS, Alderperson Denise DeMarb was first elected on April 2, 2013 to represent the 16th District; and,

 

WHEREAS, Alderperson Denise DeMarb served as Common Council President Pro Tem for the 2014 - 2015 term and Common Council President for the 2015 - 2016 term; and,

 

WHEREAS, during her tenure Alderperson Denise DeMarb served on the Administrative Review Board, Board of Estimates, Board of Public Works, Committee on Employee Relations, Common Council Executive Committee, Common Council Organizational Committee, CCOC Subcommittee to Develop Council Strategic Plan & Priorities, Community Development Division Conference Committee, Community Services Committee, Early Childhood Care and Education Committee, Economic Development Committee, Ho-Chunk Nation/City of Madison Joint Planning Committee, Jeffrey Clay Erlanger Civility in Public Discourse Award Committee, Lamp House Block Ad Hoc Plan Committee, President’s Work Group on Police & Community Relations, Sustainable Madison Committee, Transportation Master Plan Oversight Committee (Madison in Motion), and the Transportation Ordinance Review Ad Hoc Committee (TORC); and,

 

WHEREAS, during Alderperson DeMarb’s tenure she stewarded the funding and construction of a new fire station on the southeast side of Madison (Fire Station No. 14), laid the groundwork for the hiring of the Common Council’s first Chief of Staff, served as chair of TORC that created more streamlined and effective transportation boards and the hiring of a new Transportation Director; and,

 

WHEREAS, she established equity as a key value for the internal and external work of the city of Madison by championing the city’s Racial Equity and Social Justice Initiative; and,

 

WHEREAS, she worked tirelessly on early childhood issues in supporting programs that supported our most vulnerable population - children in poverty; and,

 

WHEREAS, she advocated for sustainability and environmental justice initiatives throughout the city and beyond; and,

 

WHEREAS, she valued her time serving on the city’s Performance Excellence Leadership Team and the Line of Sight Subcommittee that updated the city’s mission, vision and customer service promises to be aligned with the elements of a Great City, Imagine Madison and Results Madison and provided guidance and inspiration for the city we want to become; and,

 

WHEREAS, Alderperson DeMarb through her strong dedication to her aldermanic duties has faithfully and with honor served her constituents and the City of Madison,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Denise DeMarb for her dedicated service to her constituents in District 16 and the City of Madison and wish her well in all her future endeavors.
