The proposed resolution authorizes the acceptance of a $149,926 grant from the University of Wisconsin and amends the Public Health Madison & Dane County (PHMDC) 2023 operating budget to apply these funds to a sole source agreement with Roots4Change for mental health and trauma informed training for the Roots4Change doulas, community engagement sessions led by Roots4Change with the Latino community, and storytelling via La Comunidad magazine. The period of the agreement is January 1, 2023, to March 26, 2024. No city funds are required.

WHEREAS, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System on behalf of the University of Wisconsin, School of Medicine and Public Health, and Office of the Wisconsin Partnership Program (WPP) are awarding grant funds to Public Health Madison & Dane County (PHMDC) for purposes of conducting activities for the Maternal and Child Health grant award, Jardin de Espacios (Garden of Spaces): Designing Well-Being During the Perinatal Journey. The amount of the award is $149,926 and the period of performance is January 1, 2023, to March 26, 2024; and

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Partnership Program (WPP) is a commitment by the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health to bring about lasting improvements in health and well-being and advance health equity in Wisconsin through investments in community partnerships, research, and education. This is accomplished through four grant programs. PHMDC will receive funds via the Maternal Child Health grant program at WPP; and
