The proposed resolution authorizes an on-call engineering contract to design changes to bus stops and intersections related to the implementation of the Metro Transit Network Redesign plan. The contract cost will not exceed $800,000. Metro plans to fund this contract from it 2022 appropriation within the Transit Systems Upgrades capital program.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Common Council adopted Resolution 71227 adopting the Transit Network Redesign plan which will completely redraw most of Metro Transit’s bus routes and schedules with routes that are more frequent and direct, but will require some riders to walk farther to access the bus stops; and
WHEREAS, Metro Transit has begun a Title VI analysis of the Transit Network Redesign plan, the results of which will be available in early fall; and,
WHEREAS, this plan will require physical changes, including new bus stops, bus stop removals, and changes to locations and amenities, at an estimated 1,000 bus stops; and,
WHEREAS, all bus stops constructed will be ADA accessible, including a concrete boarding surface; and,
WHEREAS, this plan will require various minor intersection changes and other roadway improvements to make the turns and serve the bus stops in a timely and efficient manner, as well as sidewalk and crosswalk improvements to facilitate access to the bus stops; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Madison has budgeted to make speed, reliability, and other operation improvements to local routes outside of the bus rapid transit routes to make them faster and more reliable; and,
WHEREAS, a competitive process was used to determine that AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is the most qualified firm available to do the work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute a service contrac...
