Commending and thanking Alder Christian Albouras for his dedicated service to the constituents of District 20 and to the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, Alder Christian Albouras was elected to the Madison Common Council on April 2, 2019, garnering over 68% of the vote, and was reelected on April 6, 2021, garnering over 77% of the vote; and

WHEREAS, Alder Albouras served on the Ad Hoc Landmarks Ordinance Review Committee, City-County Liaison Committee, Community Development Block Grant Committee, Economic Development Committee, Madison Police Department Policy & Procedure Review Ad Hoc Committee, Plan Commission, Public Safety Review Committee, Urban Design Commission and Vending Oversight Committee; and

WHEREAS, because one of Alder Albouras’ primary goals was to be a conduit of information for his constituents, he started holding “District 20 Talks,” later reaching out to Alder Barbara Harrington-McKinney to collaborate with him, and ultimately expanding to the broader Westside aldermanic districts so they could bring informative discussions on a variety of topics to their constituents through the renamed “Westside Community Conversations”; and

WHEREAS, in 2015, before being elected to the Common Council, Alder Albouras was honored to be a citizen appointee to the Madison Police Department Policy & Procedure Review Ad Hoc Committee. Out of that work came over 170 recommendations on how we, as a community, can approach policing differently. Later, as a member of the Common Council, Alder Albouras played a role in the historic creation of an Independent Police Monitor position and a Police Civilian Oversight Board; and

WHEREAS, Alder Albouras was instrumental in bringing many pedestrian, traffic, and neighborhood safety improvements to District 20, including the installation of speed humps on Prairie Road in front of Huegel Elementary School for the safety and welfare of kiddos, staff and the community, the culmination of ...
