Extending the deadline for the Vision Zero Action Plan to March 31, 2022

Body

WHEREAS, Resolution RES-20-00500, Legistar File 60922, authorized the City of Madison to become a Vision Zero community and develop a Vision Zero Action Plan; and,

WHEREAS, The Vision Zero staff team with the oversight of the Transportation Policy & Planning Board was given a deadline of June 1, 2021 to develop a Vision Zero Action Plan; and,

WHEREAS, the Vision Zero Action Plan will draw heavily from input from those who use our streets and will put equity at the forefront of the plan; and,

WHEREAS, the Vision Zero staff team has been working diligently on Vision Zero Action Plan but there have been reduced opportunities for public engagement and reduced staff time due to the pandemic; and,

WHEREAS, the Vision Zero Action Plan will direct the City’s Vision Zero efforts for the next 10 years or so and will have a lasting impact; and,

WHEREAS, the recent election added 8 new Council members, and it is important to have more time so that these new members can be informed and involved on the Vision Zero Action Plan development,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council extends the deadline for completing the development of the Vision Zero Action Plan to be no later than March 31, 2022.
