The proposed resolution transfers Police Department grant funding from Salaries and Benefits to Other Expenses to fund partnerships with the Shorewood Hills and UW Police Departments on the grant activities. No new appropriation is required.

Amending the Police Department’s 2021 Operating Budget to allocate pass-through grant funds to the University of Wisconsin Police Department ($10,000) and Shorewood Hills Police Department ($4,000) from an existing public safety grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for a Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Task Force.

WHEREAS, the 2021 Police Department Operating Budget allocated $40,000 for overtime expenses to conduct traffic enforcement activities funded by a state FY2021 bicycle and pedestrian grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation-Bureau of Transportation Safety (WI DOT-BOTS); and,
WHEREAS, WI DOT-BOTS now requires that all their grant-funded activities be carried out by collaborating agencies (a “task force”) and has designated the University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department and Shorewood Hills Police Department as our collaborating agencies.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Police Department’s 2021 Operating Budget is amended to allocate Wisconsin Department of Transportation pass-through grant funds to the University of Wisconsin Police Department ($10,000) and Shore Hills Police Department ($4,000) to be used for the purposes of the grant, including modifications upon appropriate approvals from the funder, WI DOJ-BOTS.
