Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes the double-fill of a Transit Maintenance Supervisor (position #2822) at Metro Transit for approximately 9 weeks in 2019; the estimated cost of the double-fill is $16,000 (including benefits). As of the 2nd Quarter Metro was projecting an $780,000 deficit for 2019. Approval of the double-filled position will increase the projected deficit.

Body

WHEREAS, Metro Transit Maintenance Supervisor Jim Stratton is resigning from his City of Madison employment effective December 14, 2019; and

 

WHEREAS, this position is necessary for supervision of the maintenance shop which operates 24 hours a day; and

 

WHEREAS, the incumbent will be exhausting his leave balances through December 14, 2019; and

 

WHEREAS, Metro Transit intends to start recruiting to fill this position in September 2019, with the goal of having someone hired to start approximately the first pay period of October 2019; and

 

WHEREAS, if successful, the double-fill will exceed thirty (30) days;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Metro Transit is authorized to double-fill the position of Transit Maintenance Supervisor, position #2822, from approximately October 7, 2019 through December 14, 2019, which will be Mr. Stratton's last day on the payroll.
