The proposed resolution authorizes the City to enter into a fiscal agreement with the Urban League of Greater Madison to be the fiscal agent for Opportunity, Inc. Adopted RES-18-00394 (File ID: 51414) awarded a $30,000 purchase of service contract to Opportunity, Inc. as part of a $750,000 grant from the US Department of Justice - Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to address issues of youth violence on Madison’s Northside. No additional City appropriation is required.

WHEREAS the City accepted a $750,000 grant from the US Department of Justice-Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (RES-16-00776) to conduct a 2-year youth violence prevention project on Madison’s Northside; and

WHEREAS the City of Madison Common Council approved the distribution of these funds, in RES-18-00394, to various sub-awardees selected through a competitive public process; and

WHEREAS one of these approved sub-awardees, Opportunity Inc. has identified Urban League of Greater Madison, an agency with a long history of serving in this role, as their new fiscal agent;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter into a fiscal agreement with the Urban League of Greater Madison, fiscal agent for Opportunity Inc. for the services described and approved in City of Madison RES-18-00394, on May 15, 2018. Said contract is to have a term not longer than September 30, 2018 to September 30, 2019; and
