Funds for the salary of the Alderperson for District 16 are available in the Commom Council 2018 Operating Budget.
Title
Appointing Michael J. Tierney as Alderperson for District 16 to serve until the Spring 2019 election.
Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council Executive Committee met on July 17, 2018 to make a recommendation on the appointment of an Alderperson for District 16 according to the procedures outlined in Madison General Ordinances 2.03; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council Executive Committee reviewed the resumes submitted and interviewed the applicants; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council Executive Committee recommends that Michael J. Tierney be appointed to fill the vacated District 16 aldermanic seat; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council shall appoint and confirm the recommended candidate, or appoint and confirm another candidate among the applicants, per MGO 2.03(4),
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Michael J. Tierney is hereby appointed to the position of Alderperson for District 16 effective July 24, 2018 to serve until an election is held in the spring of 2019 and a qualified District 16 Alderperson is elected and sworn-in on April 16, 2019.
