Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution grants an extension to the Information Technology Department and Digital Technology Committee for submittal of the Fiber-to-the-Premise implementation plan until October 16, 2018. Council Adopted RES-16-00829 (Legistar 44446) established the original due date of December 31, 2017 for the implementation plan and Council Adopted RES-17-00059 (Legistar 45845) authorized $250,000 contract with CTC Technology & Energy to provide planning services for the Fiber-to-the-Premise capital project. The authorized $250,000 was budgeted in the 2017 Adopted Capital Budget and $61,000 has been reauthorized in the 2018 Adopted Capital Budget for continuation of Fiber-to-the-Premise consulting services.

Approving an extension to the due date for submitting the Fiber-to-the-Premise implementation plan to the Common Council.

Body

WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Madison adopted an initial resolution (File #44446) for developing the Fiber-to-the-Premise implementation plan to be submitted by December 31, 2017; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City contracted with CTC Technology & Energy to perform the study and develop a comprehensive report that includes a recommended model and a cost benefit analysis that meets the requirements of Wisconsin State Statute 66.0422; and,

 

WHEREAS, an extension was granted on February 6, 2018 to present the implementation plan on July 2, 2018; and,

 

WHEREAS, additional time has been requested by the Citywide Broadband Subcommittee to complete the implementation plan,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Digital Technology Committee and the Information Technology Department shall be granted an extension and an implementation plan will be submitted by October 16, 2018.
