Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes a non-competitive contract for architectural services for the City County Building (CCB) 4th and 5th floor remodel projects at an estimated cost of $350,000. The adopted 2018 capital budget for Engineering Facilities Management includes $350,000 of GO Borrowing for this work within the CCB Tenant Improvements capital project (MUNIS 10779).

Body
WHEREAS the 2018 Capital Budget includes funding for architectural and engineering consultant design services; and,

WHEREAS the contract compensation for complete architectural/engineering design services and construction administration services shall not exceed $350,000.00; and,

WHEREAS Continuum Architects + Planners of Milwaukee, WI is currently involved in the design and construction of the CCB 5th Floor Health Department remodeling and already has an extensive working knowledge of the CCB building systems and relationship with the Dane County Facility Maintenance staff,

WHEREAS, under MGO 4.26, a service contract for more than $25,000 that was not competitively bid must meet one of the exceptions to competitive selection in MGO 4.26(4)(a) and be authorized by the Common Council; and

WHEREAS, this contract meets the exception in section 4.26(4)(a)7. which states “A particular consultant has provided services to the City on a similar or continuing project in the recent past, and it would be economical to the City on the basis of time and money to retain the same consultant”;

NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council hereby authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a non-competitive contract for Purchase of Services...
