Plan Commission resolution recommending adoption of the City of Madison Comprehensive Plan
Body
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 62.23(2) and (3) of the Wisconsin Statutes, the City of Madison is required to have a comprehensive plan, as defined in sections 66.1001(1)(a) and 66.1001(2) of the Wisconsin Statutes; and

WHEREAS, the City of Madison adopted a Comprehensive Plan on January 17, 2006 and adopted minor amendments to the Comprehensive Plan in 2011 and 2012; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to 66.1001(2)(i), the City of Madison is required to update the Comprehensive Plan at least once every 10 years; and

WHEREAS, on March 29, 2016 the Common Council authorized the Planning Division to lead the process to update the Comprehensive Plan and designated the Plan Commission as the lead policy body throughout the update process; and

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Plan Commission has the authority to recommend that the Common Council adopt a comprehensive plan under Section 66.1001(4)(b) of the Wisconsin Statutes; and

WHEREAS, the City has prepared the attached City of Madison Comprehensive Plan containing all maps and other descriptive materials, to be the comprehensive plan for the City under Section 66.1001(4) of the Wisconsin Statutes; and

WHEREAS, the City adopted written procedures and has engaged in a robust public participation process that was designed to foster public participation, including open discussion, communication programs, information services, and public meetings for which advanced notice was given as required by Section 66.1001(4)(a) of the Wisconsin Statutes; and

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Comprehensive Plan fully updates the 2006 Comprehensive Plan and contains all of the required elements defined in Section 66.1001(2) of the Wisconsin Statutes; and

WHEREAS, the City of Madison has held at least one public hearing on this ordinance in compliance with the requirements of Section 66.1001(4)(d) of the Wisconsin Statutes.
