Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes the City Clerk to issue renewal taxicab operator licenses and permits for specified firms. The total estimated revenue is $29,000. License revenues administered by the City Clerk are included in the 2017 operating budget as part of General Fund Revenues.

Title

Relating to 2017-2019 Taxicab Operators' License Renewals, pursuant to Section 11.06, Madison General Ordinances.

Body

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 11.06, Madison General Ordinances, the following firms have applied for renewals of their taxicab operator licenses and permits, effective July 1, 2017:

 

Affiliated Carriage Systems, Inc., dba Madison Taxi, requesting 47 50 taxicab meter permits and 3 airport shuttle taxicab permits

Badger Bus Lines, Inc., requesting 28 flat rate permits

Badger Cab Company, Inc., requesting 29 zone taxicab permits

Green Cab of Madison Incorporated, 43 zone taxicab permit

Transit Solutions, Inc., requesting 31 32 flat rate permits;

Union Cab of Madison Cooperative, 62 meter permits

 

WHEREAS, the Traffic Engineer has provided the Transit and Parking Commission with an investigative report on the applications and a recommendation to grant the licenses;

 

WHEREAS, the Common Council recommends that the following actions be taken with respect to the above applications for licenses:

 

1. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Affiliated Carriage System, Inc., dba Madison Taxi (1403 Gilson Street) for 50 taxicab meter permits.

2. Approval of the application for license to operate Transportation Service vehicles by Badger Bus Lines, Inc. (5501 Femrite Dr.) for 27 28 permits.

3. Approval of the application for license to operate zone taxicabs by Badger Cab Company, Inc. (700 Cottage Grove Rd.) for 43 29 permits.

4. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Green Cab of Madison Incorporated (1621 Beld St) for 42 43 zone taxicab permits.

5. Approval of the application for license to operate Specialized Transportation Service vehicles by Transit Solutions, Inc. (416 S. Main Street, Deforest, WI 53532) for 31 32 permits.

6. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Union Cab of Madison Cooperative (2458 Pennsylvania Ave.) for 62 taxicab meter permits.

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following licenses are issued, subject to the provisions and conditions as stated above and the ordinances of the City of Madison:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be instructed to issue the licenses authorized by this resolution upon the filing of liability insurance as required by the Madison General Ordinances, upon filing of a schedule of fares applying to each license so granted as required by said ordinance, upon registering with the City Clerk the identity of the owner of such licensed cabs, and upon meeting the conditions as set forth above.
