Amending Section 33.09(1) of the Madison General Ordinances clarify the nature of the City-County Liaison Committee.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS:  This ordinance clarifies the nature of the City County Liaison committee, and makes the City’s language track with the similar language in the Dane County ordinances.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:

 

                     Subsection (1) entitled “City-County Liaison Committee” of Section 33.09 entitled “City-County Commissions and Committees” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:

 

“(1)                     City-County Liaison Committee.  The City-County Liaison Committee establishes and is hereby created to maintains a liaison relationship between the Common Council and the Dane County Board for the purpose of conferring on matters of mutual interest and to provide a means for advising both governing bodies on forum to resolve matters where there may be an apparent conflict or difference in interest between the city and the county.  City representation on Tthe committee shall consist of eight (8) members: the Mayor or designee and three Common Council members, three members of the Dane County Board of Supervisors, a mayoral staff member and a county executive staff member appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.”
