Congratulating Giovanni Rodriguez for being selected as the 2014 Miss Viva México and ambassador of Mexican culture and heritage.
Body
WHEREAS, Hispanic Heritage month is celebrated in the United States from September 15 to October 15; and
WHEREAS, as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, WLMV - La Movida 1480AM, a member radio station of Madison's Mid-West Family Broadcasting group, will celebrate the eleventh-annual Festival Viva México 2014 on Sunday, September 14, 2014; and
WHEREAS, it has become a tradition to select an outstanding young woman to represent the Mexican culture and heritage by being crowned as Miss Viva México; and
WHEREAS, Giovanni Rodriguez was born in Milwaukee, WI, is currently a student at UW Madison majoring in Biology, and is a student worker for the Center of Academic Excellence and Undergraduate Scholars Program; and
 
WHEREAS, throughout 2014-2015, she will participate in events and activities such as Dane County Fair, Latino Health Fair, and fundraisers to serve as a role model to other Latino youth in our community; and
WHEREAS, Giovanni Rodriguez represents the perseverance, beauty and dreams of our Latina youth;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council congratulate Giovanni Rodriguez for being selected as the 2014 Miss Viva México and ambassador of Mexican culture and heritage.
