Title
Commending and thanking Alderperson Chris Schmidt for his dedicated and conscientious service during his tenure as President of the Madison Common Council.
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Chris Schmidt was elected by his peers to the office of President of the Madison Common Council on April 16, 2013 for the term 2013-2014; and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Schmidt met weekly with Mayor Paul Soglin and Council President Pro Tem Scott Resnick to discuss city issues; and,
WHEREAS, during his term as Common Council President, Alderperson Schmidt served as chair of the Common Council Organizational Committee and served as a member on the Board of Estimates, Joint West Campus Area Committee, Long Range Transportation Planning Committee, Madison Area Transportation Board (MPO), Sustainable Madison Transportation Master Plan Oversight Committee, TIF Policy Review Ad Hoc Committee and Transit and Parking Commission; and,
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Common Council President Alderperson Schmidt held numerous discussions and forums for the Common Council on issues that involved significant ongoing development projects in the city, the review of the city's TIF policy, addressing equity and reducing racial disparities in the city, planning for the emerald ash borer infestation; and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Schmidt fulfilled his duties as Common Council President while ably representing and responding to his 11th District constituents concerns and issues,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Chris Schmidt for his dedicated and conscientious service during his tenure as President of the Madison Common Council.
