Fiscal Note
There is no fiscal impact associated with the adoption of the study recommendations.  However, implementing the recommendations will have fiscal impacts in the future and will require Common Council approval at that time.
Title
Adopting the Bus Size Study Final Report and recommendations contained therein.
Body
WHEREAS, the Transit and Parking Commission approved the June 2008 Final Report of the City of Madison Long-Range Metro Transit Planning Ad Hoc Committee; and
 
WHEREAS, that report's recommendation number eight read in part, "Metro should develop a scope of work for an outside group to review the pertinent issues related to determining whether smaller, larger, or a mix of buses should be used to serve the Metro area;" and
 
WHEREAS, Metro Transit worked with the Madison Area Transportation Planning Board (MPO) to hire consultant Nelson\Nygaard to do such a study; and
 
WHEREAS, Metro Transit and MPO staff have coordinated work with the consultant along with a Bus Size Study Steering Committee made up of community members and Alders; and
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council adopt the Bus Size Study Final Report and the recommendations therein; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Metro Transit, the Transit and Parking Commission, the Sustainable Transportation Master Plan Oversight Committee, and budget decision-makers consider the recommendations of the Bus Size Study Final Report in their future work plans and budgets.
