Fiscal Note
This grant will be accounted for in a segregated fund (SG50). The City is required to provide a 25% soft match requirement, which will be met by Police Department and Information Technology Department staff working during their regular hours with the vendor to design and implement the software. No additional City funding is required.

WHEREAS, the State of Wisconsin eReferral Implementation grant objective is to complete the implementation of the eReferral exchange between law enforcement record management systems and the county’s PROTECT system; and,

WHEREAS, the State Office of Justice Assistance has obtained project funding from the federal National Criminal History Improvement (NCHIP) program; and,

WHEREAS, the outcome of this implementation will be more efficient, accurate and timely filing of referrals for charging criminal complaints for participating law enforcement agencies; and,

WHEREAS, this project will improve arrest tracking throughout the criminal justice process, and improve the timeliness and quality of records in the State Crime Information Bureau’s Computerized Criminal History Repository (CCH); and,

WHEREAS the Madison Police Department is currently implementing a new records management system through New World Systems Corporation, which can provide the eReferrals interface.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Madison, through the Police Department, is authorized to accept an award from the State of Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance for up to $25,600.
