Fiscal Note
The proposed Amendment to the Agreement with Black and Veatch Corp. for the East Side Water Supply Planning and Project Development will not exceed $28,000. Total contract value will be increased to $578,000.

Funds for this Amendment are included in the Water Utility Capital Budget, Account #EW01-54950-810517.

Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Black and Veatch Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri for professional engineering services in conjunction with the project titled “East Side Water Supply Planning and Project Development” (Multiple east side districts).

Body
WHEREAS, in 2010 Madison Water Utility Water contracted with Black and Veatch to conduct a comprehensive east side water master planning study; and

WHEREAS, a major portion of that effort included a comprehensive public participation engagement process; and

WHEREAS, during the commencement of the work it quickly became obvious that the Citizen’s Advisory Panel required additional meetings and coordination effort resulting in a total of over 40 public meetings over the course of 8 months; and

WHEREAS, Black and Veatch Inc budgeted $93,691 for the project public participation process and actual costs were approximately $129,000; and

WHEREAS, savings were realized under other project tasks; and

WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility agreed to the increase in public participation effort and directly realized the benefits to the comprehensive effort; and

WHEREAS, the recommendations resulting from this process were unanimously received and approved by the Water Utility Board;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Black and Veatch Corporation for the “East Side Water Supply Planning and Project Development” project not to exceed $28,000 bringing the total value of the East Side Water Supply Project ...
