Body
WHEREAS, Fire Station 12, located at 400 South Point Road, suffered hail damage in September 2010, which was reported to the City’s insurance carrier; and

WHEREAS, in October 2010, the aluminum standing seam roof and the parapet wall cap flashing was found to be severely dented due to the hail; and

WHEREAS, in February 2011, an initial estimate for repairs was found to be $116,750 to replace the standing seam roof with the same gauge aluminum and $110,600 for steel roof panels; and

WHEREAS, it was decided to not replace the roof with aluminum standing seam panels due to its susceptibility to future hail damage and instead use the heaviest gauge of steel; and

WHEREAS, the project was put out to bid in June 2011 with bids being open on July 15th; and

WHEREAS, the two bids were received with the low bid at $149,900; and

WHEREAS, with 8% contingency, the project total is $161,890; and

WHEREAS, given that the project was not anticipated when the 2011 Capital Budget was adopted, a budget amendment is necessary in order to award the bid.
