Fiscal Note
This resolution authorizes the City to enter into a contract for the acquisition, customization and implementation of new Transit Workforce Scheduling Software systems totaling $ 492,919. Total project cost, including contingencies, shall not exceed $550,000 and is authorized in the 2010 Metro Transit adopted capital budget, Project No. 3, "Transit System Upgrades." Up to 80% of the cost of this project will be funded by Federal Transit Grant funding.

Preamble
Metro Transit, a division of the City of Madison, developed a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking firms with an interest in providing a software solution that will be used to schedule and manage transit employees, according to the Transit Labor agreement with Teamsters Local 695 and other applicable City/Metro Transit rules and procedures, which must interface with the City of Madison ERP Software. The RFP was advertised and four responsive and responsible proposals were received in response to the RFP.

WHEREAS, Metro Transit’s current timekeeping software is approaching fifteen years of age and is in need of replacement. The current Lotus based software can no longer be supported, as it is an out-dated programming language; and

WHEREAS, based on the review of the proposals received, Trapeze Software Group, Inc. was selected; and

WHEREAS, City Purchasing negotiated a reduced price and a proposed contract was prepared; and

WHEREAS, the new software system will provide better online tools and more user friendly functionality; and

WHEREAS, the new software system will enable easy access to timely information for improved decision making; and
