PREAMBLE
 
Section 8.21 of the Madison General Ordinances, "Public Parks to Be Closed During Certain Hours", provides that parks shall be closed at 10 p.m. except where closing hours may be extended by the Superintendent of Parks to 11 p.m. due to scheduled recreational events.  It further provides that the Common Council may by Resolution permit specific parks to be open after 11 p.m. for designated events approved by the Common Council.
 
Olbrich Botanical Gardens is hosting its 22nd  annual special fundraising event "Rhapsody in Bloom" to provide an evening dinner and dance to benefit Olbrich Botanical Gardens on Saturday, June 20, 2009 and desires to remain open until 11:30 p.m.
 
The Park Commission recommends that the Common Council approve the extension of the closing hours of Olbrich Botanical Gardens from 10:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on June 20, 2009 to allow the 22nd annual "Rhapsody in Bloom" evening dinner and dance to raise funds to benefit Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council hereby extends the closing hours for Olbrich Botanical Gardens from 10:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on June 20, 2009 to allow the 22nd  annual "Rhapsody in Bloom" evening dinner and dance to raise funds to benefit Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
