Fiscal Note
The total cost of this project is expected to be less than $80,000. A total of approximately $57,000 is secured and includes a $20,000 City Neighborhood Planning Grant (funding for which is included in the 2007 Plan Unit Adopted Operating Budget), a $12,000 BUILD grant from Dane County, and $25,000 in private donations. Additional private funding is anticipated. The City's commitment will not exceed the $20,000 currently authorized. A special revenue account, SO37, has been established and the $20,000 in the operating budget will be transferred to that account.

Body
WHEREAS, the South Stoughton Road Corridor, a section of US Highway 51, has long been an essential industrial and commercial corridor for several Eastside neighborhoods, the City as a whole, and the Region; and

WHEREAS, the focus of this planning effort in the Stoughton Road corridor generally located north of US Highway 12 & 18, and south of US Highway 30, and includes areas along frontage roads and nodes at the intersections of Broadway, Pflaum, Buckeye, Cottage Grove Roads, and Milwaukee Street; and

WHEREAS, the project area includes portions of nine different Neighborhood Associations including, Burke Heights, East Buckeye, Eastmorland, Elvehjem, Glendale, Hiestand, Lake Edge, Pflaum Road, and Rolling Meadows; and

WHEREAS, the project area is also covered by the Southeast Business Association; and

WHEREAS, this corridor is currently the focus of a study by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, which has identified three alternatives for how to safely handle projected increased traffic; and

WHEREAS, there is not a detailed plan for this area to guide land use decisions, redevelopment and other improvement activities; and
