Fiscal Note
This amendment provides $15,000 in funding from the Contingent Reserve to the Mayor's Office operating budget for the purchase of services from an agency or organization to deliver emergency travel assistance to full-service grocery to qualified residents of the Allied and Dunn’s Marsh neighborhoods.
Funding of $15,000 is available in the 2015 adopted City operating budget, which has appropriated $1,200,000 in funding for the Contingent Reserve. The current, uncommitted balance of the Contingent Reserve is $1,163,000, which will be reduced to $1,148,000 upon adoption of this amendment. There is no net impact on the tax levy.

Amending the 2015 operating budget to appropriate $15,000 from the Contingent Reserve to the Mayor's Office, and authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract to purchase the services of an agency or organization to deliver emergency travel assistance to full-service grocery to qualified residents of the Allied and Dunn’s Marsh neighborhoods.

WHEREAS, in October 2014, Mayor Soglin directed staff to begin exploring options to secure a full-service food retailer located adjacent to the Allied Drive neighborhood; and,
WHEREAS, in November 2014, the Common Council adopted a resolution that officially created an Allied Neighborhood Staff Team that would work to improve conditions in the neighborhood within three priority areas: access to full-service affordable grocery, additional services and/or centers, and economic development planning; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council requested staff to deliver a report by December 15, 2014, that outlined aggressive options to secure an affordable full-service grocery to the Allied Drive/Verona Road Commercial district; and,
