The proposed resolution authorizes a sole source contract for elevator maintenance services at the South Livingston Street Parking Garage. Costs over the six year contract will be $15,300 per year for a total contract price not to exceed $91,800. The 2021 Operating Budget includes $30,000 for elevator repair services. Funding for future years of the contract will be included in Parking Utility’s budget requests.

A Resolution authorizing a sole source service contract with KONE Inc. for elevator maintenance services at the South Livingston Street Parking Garage that exceed $50,000 in total price and is greater than five (5) years.
Body
WHEREAS, the initial warranty period on the recently constructed South Livingston Street Garage’s elevators has expired, and the South Livingston Street Parking Garage has two elevators that will require ongoing inspection, maintenance, and repair; and
WHEREAS, the Parking Division’s Elevator Consultant, Performance Elevator Consulting LLC, has prepared requirements and scope of work documents for the maintenance and inspection needs for the South Livingston Garage Elevators; and due to proprietary elevator equipment, identified the need for a sole source service contract with KONE Inc; and
WHEREAS, the Parking Division desires to enter into a contract with KONE Inc. for inspection and maintenance at a cost of $15,300 per year, and a total contract price not to exceed $91,800 for an approximately 6 year contract term; and
WHEREAS, under MGO 4.26(4)(a) a service contract of $50,000 or more that was not competitively
selected must be approved by the Common Council and must meet one of the exceptions in MGO
4.26(4)(b); and
WHEREAS, for the reasons stated on the attached Noncompetitive Selection Request Form,
KONE Inc., is the only vendor in the area that can provide the specific needs; thereby meeting the exception of MGO 4.26(4)(b)2., “the service required is available from only one person or firm.”; and
