The proposed Agreement with Strand Associates (to be selected) for professional engineering services for reconstruction of Booster Pump Station No. 106 will not exceed $190,000. Funds for this project are included in the 2012 Water Utility Capital Budget.

SUBSTITUTE: Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Strand Associates (to be selected) for the preparation of drawings and specifications, permitting, bidding, and construction administration for the Utility’s reconstruction of Booster Pump Station No. 106 located on Glenway Street in Reservoir Park on the near west side of Madison (5th AD).
Body
WHEREAS, constructed in 1925, Booster Pump Station 106 is the oldest facility in the Madison water system and is in need of upgrade and replacement. Booster Pump Station 106 provides operational flexibility to the water system by enabling the transfer of water from Pressure Zone 6 to Pressure Zone 7 and back again. This functionality provides system reliability and redundancy to help to ensure water service and fire protection to near west side neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility relies on Booster Pump Station 106 as a critical supply component of the system, is planning to keep the facility in operation for decades to come and therefore has budgeted for design of this project in 2012 and reconstruction of this facility in the year 2013; and
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility has advertised for, received, and evaluated professional engineering consultant proposals for the work, and selected Strand Associates (to be selected) for this work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute a Professional Services Agreement not to exceed $190,000 with Strand Associates (to be selected) for facility design, permitting, preparation of drawings and specifications, bidding services, and construction administration services for the reconstruction and...
