Title
Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Engberg Anderson to provide pre-design, conceptual design, and schematic design services for the interior improvements and expansion of the Meadowridge Branch Library and the Meadowood Neighborhood Center.
Body
WHEREAS the 2013 Capital Budget includes funding for design and construction; and,
WHEREAS the contract compensation for pre-design, conceptual design, and schematic design services for Engberg Anderson is $54,000; and,
WHEREAS the project will expedite the expansion of the library and neighborhood center because these facilities are struggling to meet the demands of the community with currently undersized operations; and,
WHEREAS it is crucial for the project to include community input on the project. This input needs to be gathered as soon as possible in order to proceed with the project without delays.
WHEREAS there is a fiscal impact if the project is delayed as new lease terms have been negotiated at a significantly lower rate than what is currently being paid. Any project delays will also delay the ability to exercise those new terms.
WHEREAS Engberg Anderson is a local firm with expertise on library renovations and public process and has worked with Madison Public Library on a number of remodel and renovation projects.
WHEREAS Engberg Anderson located at One North Pinckney Street, Madison, Wisconsin 53703, has been selected as a sole source because of the need to expedite the project.
